Director of People Strategy and Planning

As the ICS matures, we see a role for it as a local leader in defining our people strategies; gaining a full understanding of workforce demand, and identifying credible supply solutions that support the continuous improvement of the services and care we provide – making a positive impact on local communities.  The Director of People Strategy & Planning will work with stakeholders and system partners to define and deliver these strategies, as part of a coordinated programme of workforce and culture development.

The postholder will take a lead role in our ‘one workforce’ strategy in line with the NHS People Plan and will require working across organisational boundaries to form positive working relationships with system partners across health and social care and local authorities.

There are a number of key delivery areas for this role:

  • Lead the ICS people strategy and planning processes, such as strategy development and operating plans;
  • Programme leadership within the ICS operating model development & associated change management;
  • Support the establishment of ICP workforce teams, bringing together people from across organisational boundaries to form effective place-based teams;
  • Identify priority workforce planning needs with partners from ICS strategic programmes;
  • Establish a shared bank, to support the needs for temporary workforce supply across the ICS system and a place-level.

Director of Healthy Careers

As the ICS matures, we see a key role for it as a network of Anchor institutions, offering strong employment opportunities and a positive impact on local communities.  The Director of Healthy Careers will work with stakeholders and system partners to deliver a co-ordinated programme of workforce and culture development.

The postholder will lead specific elements of a ‘one workforce’ strategy in line with the NHS People Plan, including attraction and development of talent across the ICS system, careers planning, staff retention and shaping an inclusive and collaborative culture. The role will require working across organisational boundaries to form positive working relationships with system partners, training and education providers, major local employers and local authorities.

There are a number of key delivery areas for this role:

  • Design the Surrey Heartlands employer proposition, and where appropriate commission external partners to support this;
  • Advance systemic team coaching for ICS & ICP executive teams to establish optimal system working & value;
  • Responsible for enabling the best joint ICS health & wellbeing offer for people recovery following COVID-19 and long term workforce health and wellbeing;
  • Work with the ICS Executive to ensure that Equality, Diversity & Inclusion is considered in all key matters at every level of the ICS;
  • Work with colleagues and institutions to understand and shape the needs of education and development for tomorrow’s workforce supply.

North West Surrey Care Alliance

Director of Transformation: Band 9

As part of the NW Surrey Health and Care Alliance leadership team, the Director of Transformation will share the strategic responsibility for improving the health outcomes of local people, in the broadest sense. You will report into the Alliance Chief Officer and will act as their key number two across the geography, being someone who holds aspirations of taking on an Executive role in the future.

We are looking for someone who can build and oversee an innovative and dynamic team, to drive radical transformation of health and public services across North West Surrey, with a focus on delivering true integration and continuous improvement across the broadest determinants of health outcomes.

This is an exciting opportunity for a leader who, working with the Executive Lead for Transformation and the NW Surrey Health and Care Alliance Board, can create a comprehensive transformation programme, aligned to our key priorities, and develop a leading transformation and delivery capability to deliver the programme.

The successful candidate will have significant experience of transformation, change management and quality improvement and will be able to work effectively to deliver a complex programme across multiple organisations. You will be an exceptional communicator, able to convey ideas in an engaging way and able to motivate colleagues towards collaborative goals. You will be a strategic thinker with proven leadership and operational capability.

Director of Communications, Engagement and Experience: Band 9

As part of NW Surrey Health and Care Alliance leadership team, the Director of Communications, Engagement & Experience will share the strategic responsibility for improving the health outcomes of local people across the Alliance, as well as holding the equivalent post across Ashford and St Peter’s Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, having reporting lines to both the Place based Accountable Officer and Trust CEO.

We are looking for someone who can provide strategic communications and engagement advice and support, ensuring that our strategy and interventions are formulated in partnership with local residents, and are communicated across our partnership, through a clear and compelling narrative. What is unique about this role is the ambition to expand upon the traditional communications functions of public sector organisations. We believe effective communication is a fundamental pre-requisite to delivering high quality care and support and we want to radically improve the way our services are accessed and navigated. The Director of Communications, Engagement & Experience will therefore take a key leadership role in completely redesigning the way people access and interact with services across the Alliance.

The postholder will have considerable freedom to create and implement a Communications and Engagement Strategy for the Alliance, as well as overseeing the strategy and day to day Communication’s operations at the Trust; developing a leading Communications and Engagement team. This is an exciting opportunity to work with an ambitious group of partners, keen to grow a national and international profile.

The successful candidate will be a very experienced Communications and Engagement senior leader who has previous worked in a customer-focused environment. They will be an exceptional communicator, able to build strong and influential relationships across our partnership and beyond. They will be able to plan and facilitate activities involving a range of stakeholders, including staff, residents, the media and politicians. They will be a strategic thinker with proven leadership capability.
